  • Mayra's deep commitment to serving Latinx clients from underserved and historically marginalized communities allows her to provide culturally attuned care that honors the unique challenges and strengths within these communities.

  • Her extensive experience working with community violence, domestic and interpersonal violence, and crisis intervention equips her with specialized skills for supporting clients through some of life's most difficult and destabilizing experiences.

  • Mayra's approachable, curious presence helps clients make connections they may not have recognized on their own, creating a therapeutic space where people feel genuinely seen beyond the hardest parts of their story.

"Sometimes we spend so much time surviving or being who others need us to be that we lose sight of ourselves along the way. I do this work because I believe people deserve a space to make sense of what they've lived through, reconnect with who they are, and be seen as more than the hardest parts of their story."

- Mayra Gonzalez

Mayra Gonzalez is an Associate Clinical Social Worker who creates a culturally responsive, nonjudgmental space where clients feel understood and supported, particularly those whose experiences and environments are often overlooked or misunderstood. With specialized expertise in trauma, anxiety, depression, and relationship and family issues, she works with children, teens, and adults across different stages of life, with particular passion for serving Latinx clients from underserved and historically marginalized communities. Mayra's experience spans supporting children with autism, behavioral concerns, and emotional regulation, as well as teens navigating self-esteem, depression, self-harm, and the impact of community violence.

Her therapeutic approach is trauma-informed, strengths-based, and culturally responsive, incorporating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), solution-focused interventions, and mindfulness-based techniques tailored to each client's individual needs. Mayra's methodology focuses on helping clients gain deeper understanding of themselves, their emotions, and the patterns that may be impacting their well-being and relationships. She pays close attention to what may be underneath a client's emotions, behaviors, or patterns, approaching difficult conversations with curiosity and helping clients put words to experiences they may have struggled to understand or express.

Mayra holds an ASW credential and a PPSC in Child Welfare and Attendance, bringing professional experience supporting children, adolescents, adults, and families in both school-based and clinical settings. Her background includes working with behavioral and emotional concerns, trauma, crisis intervention, community violence, domestic and interpersonal violence, and relationship challenges within underserved populations. This diverse clinical experience, combined with her emphasis on culturally responsive care, equips her to meet clients where they are with genuine understanding of the systemic and community factors that shape their experiences.

An LA native with a genuine and approachable presence, Mayra allows clients to show up as themselves without feeling like they have to say the "right" thing. She believes people deserve a space to make sense of what they've lived through, reconnect with who they are, and be seen as more than the hardest parts of their story. Outside the therapy room, Mayra loves traveling and exploring different parts of Mexico, hiking new trails, and discovering new coffee shops. She enjoys experiencing the culture and community events LA has to offer, and when she's not planning her next adventure, she's counting down the days until Rams season.
