What are Therapeutic Groups & Workshops?

Therapeutic groups and workshops bring together individuals with similar concerns or goals to learn, heal, and grow in a supportive community setting. Unlike individual therapy, which focuses exclusively on your personal journey, groups offer the opportunity to connect with others facing similar challenges, share experiences, receive feedback, and practice new skills in a safe, structured environment.

Groups at the Center for Healing & Personal Growth take two primary forms:

Process Groups focus on interpersonal dynamics, emotional expression, and personal insight. These ongoing groups provide a space to explore relationship patterns, receive authentic feedback, and develop deeper self-awareness through interaction with others.

Skills-Based Groups & Workshops focus on learning and practicing specific tools and techniques for managing particular challenges. These time-limited programs combine education, experiential activities, and practical application to help you develop concrete skills you can use in your daily life.

Both types of groups are facilitated by experienced therapists who guide the process, ensure a safe environment, and provide professional expertise while fostering meaningful connection among participants.

  • We recommend scheduling a brief consultation with our intake coordinator to discuss your specific needs and goals. Some groups require a brief screening to ensure they're appropriate for your needs.

  • While each group has its own structure, most sessions include a check-in, introduction of the session's theme or skill, interactive exercises or discussion, and a closing reflection. Skills-based groups typically include educational components, practice activities, and homework assignments to reinforce learning between sessions.

  • All sharing in our groups is voluntary. While active participation enhances the experience, you're always welcome to participate at your own comfort level. Many people find that as they become comfortable with the group, sharing becomes easier and more natural, but there's never pressure to disclose more than you're ready to.

  • Most of our groups include 6-10 participants, providing enough diversity for meaningful interaction while ensuring everyone has the opportunity to participate. Some specialized groups or workshops may have different sizes depending on the format and goals.
