Dr. Toriz's integrated approach combines clinical expertise with life coaching, wellness coaching, and Neuro-Linguistic Programming, allowing her to support clients across the full spectrum of mental health, personal development, and holistic wellbeing. Dr. Antonieta Toriz is a Counseling Psychologist at the Center for Healing & Personal Growth who brings over twenty years of experience in counseling, coaching, leadership development, and program design.
She provides services in both English and Spanish, working with individuals, couples, families, children, and groups across a wide range of concerns.
Dr. Toriz earned her Doctoral Degree in Counseling Psychology, a Master's Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, and a second Master's Degree in Pastoral Counseling (integrating psychology and spirituality) from Trinity College of Graduate Studies. She also holds certifications as a Professional Life Coach, in Neuro-Linguistic Programming, Health and Wellness Coaching, Lifestyle Medicine for Coaches, and is a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach.
Her career has spanned university counseling centers, community clinics, nonprofit organizations, and private practice. At California State University, Fullerton, she served as a Faculty Psychologist providing direct clinical services, outreach programming, and psychoeducational workshops on campus and in the community. She also served as a liaison psychologist for multiple campus programs, including the Office of Student Life and Leadership and the Career Center, and as a counselor for former foster care youth. At Cal Poly Pomona, she served as Care Services Coordinator for the Wellbeing Coaching Program, supporting students through integrative wellbeing interventions. Prior to her university work, she specialized in multicultural counseling, leadership development, crisis intervention, foster care youth, and trauma recovery in community and nonprofit settings.
Dr. Toriz is a recognized speaker and educator who has presented at numerous conferences, university campuses, community organizations, and faith communities on topics ranging from self-esteem and communication skills to stress management, leadership, and healthy relationships. She was recognized by the California State Senate for her participation in International Women's Day in 2008 and has received awards from California State University, Fullerton, the Chicana/o Community, and multiple civic and student organizations. She has also appeared as an invited panelist on Univision, the Spanish-language national broadcast network, speaking on mental health and higher education.
Dr. Toriz believes deeply in the balance of body, mind, emotions, and spirituality, and her therapeutic philosophy centers on helping each person discover their own internal power. Her approach is holistic and culturally responsive, drawing on evidence-based models including TF-CBT, NLP, CBT, CPP, EFT, MI, IPT, Somatic Experiencing, and grief-focused interventions. She is passionate about empowering individuals and communities to reconnect with their strengths, make healthy choices, and live with purpose and fulfillment.
Outside the Therapy Room
Dr. Toriz finds renewal in walking by the beach, connecting with nature and animals, and traveling. She enjoys music, reading, holistic healing practices, quantum energy work, sound healing, and Feng Shui. She is deeply engaged in her faith community and loves learning from people of different cultures. She is especially passionate about neuroscience and the brain.
